In 1962 John Bates was a Display Consultant for Barway Display, they were responsible for the mannequins and windows in the pictures: for Bazaar (Mary Quant) in Knightsbridge and Kings road.
It was during these early years that John designed and formulated a mannequin style that would ultimately lead to the formation of Gemini Mannequin. The mannequin in the photos was 'Phyllis Richards'.
